Recreation at Royal Shores

Everything from recreation to retail abounds in Kingwood. An integral part of Kingwood’s master plan is its recreation, rich with indoor and outdoor activities as well as more than 100 clubs and organizations that appeal to its diverse group of residents. Greenbelts, a signature feature of Friendswood Development master-planned communities, not only provide places to walk, jog, bike ride and roller blade, they also offer scenic, wooded and appealing ways for residents to travel around the community, to visit amenities and each other, all on trails that keep them away from busy streets. One of the world’s largest private country clubs, The Clubs of Kingwood offers 90 holes of championship golf at two distinct locations, Kingwood Country Club and Deerwood Golf Club. In addiiton to five 18-hole championship golf course as well as dining, social activities, a lazy river complex, and a new state-of-the-art athletic and spa center, five pools and 26 tennis courts - all make this club a social focal point of the community. The 18-hole Oakhurst at Kingwood Golf Club features challenging play, scenic surroundings and a brand new clubhouse.

From the performing arts to the most sought-after names in retail, Kingwood truly offers something for everyone. And in addition, the constant growth in Kingwood’s residential villages means continued growth in its commercial areas, where more popular retail stores, restaurants and medical facilities are planned for the future.

Golf, Tennis, Swimming and More

The Clubs of Kingwood Country Club, touted as the world’s largest Country Club, offers the Oakhurst at Kingwood community the prestige of six championship golf courses. It houses more than 1,000 acres of fairways, more than any other community in Houston.

The Oakhurst at Kingwood Golf Club in the Oakhurst at Kingwood Village offers an excellent semi private 18-hole daily fee course.

With over 20 community swimming pools, almost every village has a place to splash.

Three full service Athletic Clubs designed for the entire family are here in Kingwood: Lake Houston YMCA, QLS Family Sport Complex and Kingwood Athletic Club.

Community Activities

Kingwood Town Center, a landscaped green space at the end of Main Street, is the site of arts festivals, concerts and celebrations.

The Kings Harbor multi-use development boasts community events, a splash pad and water-front walkways at this retail, commercial, residential and restaurant community along the north shores of Lake Houston.

The Kingwood community has over 500 acres of private parks and nature reserves. Also, there are two community sports parks with soccer, baseball and softball fields.

With over 75 miles of greenbelts, patrolled by police on bicycles, you can enjoy walking, hiking and biking through the woods, along the lake and into the nature reserve.
