The District is the fourth largest employer in Montgomery County with a history of steady growth of housing and business development. Lone Star College - Kingwood
Lone Star College’s Kingwood campus is conveniently located adjacent to Oakhurst at Kingwood. The Lone Star College System¬† is accredited through the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Any student living in East Montgomery County graduating from high school automatically receives a $1000 scholarship from the East Montgomery County Improvement District to be used at any Lone Star College Campus within 24 months of his/her high school graduation.
