Tasting The Town – Local Business Winners Announced
on Nov 3, 2009 | Tagged in: community
Tasting the Town ushered in the Kingwood community as they welcomed over 70 local restaurants, wineries and other businesses for a celebration of food with an all-you-can-sample multi restaurant “buffet.” October 15 was one full evening where caterers and chef’s were standing before patrons, serving up specialty dishes, along with beer, wine and soda, all for a mere $15.
Whether patrons were there simply to support their long standing favorite restaurants, or to try something new, it was a tasty evening all could enjoy. Community members were able to sample food and beverages from any and all restaurants they desired. Then they could vote for their favorite restaurants, foods and display booths, with the top spots being awarded the coveted “Tasty Awards” indicating community choice.
Tasting the Town is an event opportunity that offers a variety of local restaurant and business owners the chance to share their best dishes with hundreds of potential customers. This offers restaurants media exposure through chamber distributions, internet and web advertising as well as newspaper, radio and television announcements. The event was not only a great opportunity for local business owners, it was also a benefit to Kids, Inc. – the chosen charity partner for this year’s event – supported by a portion of the proceeds.
This year’s Tasty Awards winners were: Best Entrée: Texas Roadhouse, for their “Fall-off-the-Bone Ribs” Best Beverage: Tapioca Lounge, for their assorted teas and fantastic fresh smoothies Best Dessert: H.E.B, for their amazing assortment of desserts, especially their cake Best Overall: Hector’s Mexican Grill & Cantina, for their bacon wrapped shrimp, fajitas, margaritas, fresh made tortillas and Mariachi band.
Additional “Judges Choice” awards were presented by local celebrity guest judges Dan Huberty (current Humble ISD Board of Trustees President), Gwendolyn Condoleo (Neighborhood Liasion from Mayor Bill White’s office), and Dr. Guy Sconzo (Humble ISD superintendent).
Their awards went to:
Teri Stokes of KingwoodClwns.com for the “Most Creative Tabletop” for creating a man and woman entirely out of balloons, along with a chandelier to hang above her table, and Hector’s Mexican Grill & Cantina for “Best Decorated/Themed Booth” with freshly made tortillas and a Mariachi band in his “mini-restaurant.”
