On April 2, Kingwood area residents are encouraged to come out and enjoy casino night at the Kingwood Country Club. This event is being held to help benefit the Thomas Joseph Stanton II Trust, which was established to support the long-term medical care of Stanton, who is a Kingwood Park High School student that suffered a traumatic brain injury in a skateboarding accident last summer. All proceeds from this event will go to his trust and to provide education efforts on helmet safety.
In addition, on April 9, there will be a swimming event entitled “Swim for Team Joseph.” Swimmers of all ages will be able to gather at Summer Creek High for this event. This is a summer league and USA swimming Gulf Region-Sanctioned event.
Joseph Stanton, 17, has now returned home after many months of intense therapy and treatment at various hospitals in the Houston area. Students and parents gathered to welcome him home along a barricaded, sign filled route to his house.
For more information on these events, go to www.teamjoseph.org or call Diane Walters about the casino night at 281-450-1155 or John Dissinger about the Swim for Team Joseph at 281-507-7983.
