Oakhurst at Kingwood residents can take part in recognizing outstanding women in their lives that give their hearts and countless hours to make the community a better place to live, raise children, work and play. Nominations are being accepted for the 2009 FamilyTime Women of Achievement awards for women in the categories of the Arts, Business, Community Activism, Education, Entrepreneurship, Homemaking, Human Services, Medical, Women’s Advocacy, Visionary, Volunteering, and Special Recognition.

This is an opportunity for Oakhurst at Kingwood residents to nominate women in their lives – a family member, a neighbor, a co-worker – any woman who makes a difference in your life and the community.  Nominations should be no more than 500 words and must be received by October 26, 2009. The honorees will be recognized at the FamilyTime Hearts of Gold Gala dinner on January 30, 2010 at the Marriott Airport Hotel.

Film-loving Oakhurst at Kingwood residents will soon have an even greater selection of movie times and locations. Starplex Cinemas will be opening the Kingwood Stadium 14 Theater in April 2010, with development starting this fall.

“We have been working to make sure all of the financing is set in place before we start anything,” said Traci Hoey, Starplex Cinemas Marketing Director; “We will start moving forward as soon as we can.”

Movie-goers are in for a treat, as the new Kingwood Stadium 14 will feature real 3-D digital projection, an expanded concessions menu, and high-back rocker seats. Movies will come alive with digital surround sound and wall-to-wall screens in each room.

More business has just come to Houston, creating job opportunities for Houstonians across the city and its communities. Due to an increase in demand, a new tire retreading plant has recently opened in Houston by Snider Tire, Inc. and Michelin Retread Technologies.

The new plant is located at 603 Northpark Central Drive near George Bush Intercontinental Airport, and will supply four of Texas' Snider commercial locations in Conroe, Dallas/Prairie, Beaumont, and Houston.

John Snider, president of Snider Tire, had this to say: "We have seen an increase in demand from trucking fleets for emergency roadside service and Michelin Retread Technologies tire products." He also added, "[the] new facility will ensure that we can meet the demand with additional production, as well as timely retread delivery to our commercial locations in Texas."

Tired of running wires everywhere for an Internet connection? You aren't alone, and Suddenlink has listened and responded. Suddenlink is bringing Wifi@Home (Wifi at Home) to Oakhurst at Kingwood. This system is an easy way for Oakhurst at Kingwood residents to connect multiple PCs and other devices to the Internet without the use of wired connections.

Before, customers would have to purchase their own routers in order to achieve wireless connections for multiple devices, but now Suddenlink offers plans to give customers combination modem and wireless router to remedy that.
