Village Builders Offers Patio Homes in The Enclave at Oakhurst

Village Builders is offering its luxury low maintenance patio homes in the Enclave, Oakhurst at Kingwood’s gated golf course neighborhood. Known for luxury appointments and innovative designs, the homes offer locations along the scenic Oakhurst Golf Course.

Seven different designs ranging in price from the $220,000s to the $260,000s.

New Home Consultant Huguette Dishongh says that already, interest is strong for the product because of its gated, golf course location.

HUD Secretary Donvan Unveils New Details on Home Buyer Tax Credit

In a recent speech before the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Board of Directors, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan today unveiled new rules that will help spur the housing market by allowing consumers to use the $8,000 first-time home buyer tax credit to help cover the costs of closing on an FHA-insured home.

“We believe this is a real win for everyone,” said Donovan. “Today, the Obama Administration is taking another important step toward accelerating the recovery of the nation’s housing market. Families will now be able to apply their anticipated tax credit toward their home purchase right away.”

Oakhurst Students Visited By Award-Winning Author

White Oak Milddle School, which serves students in Oakhurst at Kingwood, was treated to a visit by award winning author Andrea White at the end of the school year. She spoke to all seventh graders and 120 eighth graders who were excited to purchase books and get autographs from Mrs. White.

She grew up in Houston and is married to Houston Mayor Bill White and in addition to being an author, is a community volunteer and education activist. The Whites have three children: Will, Elena, and Stephen. She told the students that they love to hike and camp, and although they've had some hair-raising adventures, she says that their experiences were all tame compared to what happens in the book Surviving Antarctica.


New Caney ISD Hires New Superintendent

Kenn K. Franklin Hired as Superintendent

The New Caney Independent School District, which serves school-age children living in Oakhurst at Kingwood, has a new Superintendent. In May, the New Caney Independent School District Board of Trustees hired Kenn K. Franklin, to be the new superintendent and on June 1, his new position was in effect.

Prior to joining the New Caney district, Franklin was superintendent of Marshall ISD since 2005 and before that, he was the superintendent of Marfa ISD. He has a total of 21 years of experience in education including six years as a teacher/coach and 15 years as an administrator in other districts including Tyler ISD, Athens ISD, and Dallas ISD. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, Masters of Education degree, and superintendent certification from University of Texas at Tyler.

New-home sales in Oakhurst at Kingwood are up nearly 10 percent over the same time last year, showcasing the community's growing popularity and demand for its wide variety of new homes.

Located just off US 59 in the Kingwood area, Oakhurst at Kingwood features new homes priced from the $140,000s to the $700,000s by Lennar, Meritage Homes, Village Builders, and Frontier Custom Builders. New home designs include a wide variety of one- and two-story floor plans as well as luxury patio homes and stunning custom designs.


Oakhurst Seniors Eligible for $1,000 Scholarship

One of the many benefits for school-age children living in Oakhurst at Kingwood is a program that offers graduating seniors $1,000 to be used to fund their education after high school.

For graduating seniors who live in Oakhurst, located in East Montgomery County, $1,000 is available to them to use for any accredited college or university and the program applies to children in public school, private school and in home school programs.
