Kingwood Heroes are Honored

As part of National Purple Heart Recipient Recognition Day yesterday, the Cypress Woods retirement community in Kingwood held a Purple Heart Banquet to honor this distinguished holiday. Keynote speaker Texas State Representative Joe Crabb began the festivities by awarding each veteran with commemorative awards, and later, the guests were all treated to gourmet dinners.
Michael-David Reilly, Community Relations Manager at Cypress Woods, noted that it is "important to recognize and honor those individuals," and that "they have truly sacrificed for our country and the cause of freedom and democracy." This was a great way to give back to those members who served our country for us, and the Cypress Woods retirement community did service back to them.
The Master of Ceremonies at the event was Michael-David Reilly, while local members from the US Marine Corp presented the red, white, and blue colors paying service to our country and its veterans. The National Anthem was sung by Tyler Hardy-Crosky, student at Kingwood School of Music, to a heart-strung crowd. This was an emotional moment that left a heartfelt impression on the vets. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer by "Q" McGowen of the Second Baptist Church.
A special salute goes out to the veterans of the Kingwood area and a job well done to the Cypress Woods retirement community for putting this event together. The Cypress Woods retirement community is located at 2755 Chestnut Ridge Dr., just south of Oakhurst at Kingwood. For more information on the community, call 281-441-8800.
